United Airlines facility center, Florida, USA

Render of the United Airlines facility center in Florida, a large white industrial building with offices at one end and a car park in front

Project overview

The United Airlines facility center is a large industrial and office building in Florida, USA. Wrenze Steel worked on the project for United Airlines, with the airline’s own engineering division as the consultant.

The render shows a long, white industrial building with a two-storey office block at its front and a car park and service yard around it.

Our scope

Wrenze Steel provided engineering services to the United Airlines engineering division. Working for a client’s in-house engineers means following their standards, design criteria and review process, and delivering calculations and drawings in the format their team checks and approves.

The project is one of our two United States projects, alongside the Microsoft data center in Virginia. We also have a US company, Wrenze Engineering USA LLC, registered in Texas, supporting our projects in the United States.

The structure

Facility centers of this type combine a large-span industrial building, for maintenance, storage or operations, with an office block for staff. Steel frames suit both parts: long-span roof structures over the open floor, and braced or moment frames for the offices, with the two parts tied together or separated by a movement joint.
