Franck Muller Yachting by London Gate, Dubai

Render of the top of the Franck Muller Yachting tower by London Gate in Dubai, with a large open steel frame around the upper floors over the water

Project overview

Franck Muller Yachting is a residential tower in Dubai developed by London Gate Real Estate Development. Wrenze Steel carried out the steel structural design for the developer.

It is one of three London Gate projects in our portfolio, alongside the Franck Muller Vanguard tower and the Aeternitas Tower in Dubai Marina, where we acted as third-party steel consultant.

Our scope

Our scope was the steel structural design. On a concrete residential tower, the steel is usually the architectural and roof-level work: the crown frame that defines the tower’s top, roof structures, canopies and feature elements. These parts carry high wind loads at height and are fixed back to the concrete frame, so the design covers both the steel members and their anchorage into the structure below.

The structure

The render shows a slender tower with a framed top: a large open frame around the upper floors that gives the building its outline against the skyline. A frame like this is exposed to the full wind at the top of the tower, so stiffness matters as much as strength. Deflection limits, connection design and how the frame is erected at height all shape the member sizes.

Working for the developer directly, we keep the design economical and buildable: standard sections where they work, repeated connections, and pieces sized for the cranes and access on a tall building site.
