Franck Muller Vanguard by London Gate, Dubai

Render of the Franck Muller Vanguard tower by London Gate in Dubai, a tall glazed tower with a crown at its top beside a highway interchange

Project overview

Franck Muller Vanguard is a high-rise residential tower in Dubai by London Gate Real Estate Development. Wrenze Steel carried out the steel structural design for the developer.

We have worked with London Gate on three towers: Vanguard, Franck Muller Yachting and the Aeternitas Tower.

Our scope

Our scope was the steel structural design. On a high-rise tower the steel package typically covers the crown and roof structures, feature frames on the facade, canopies at the entrance and podium, and supports for plant and maintenance equipment. Each element is designed for its loads, especially wind at height, and for its connection to the concrete frame.

The structure

The render shows a tall glazed tower with a distinct crown at its top and a podium at its base. A tower crown is a steel structure in its own right: it has to resist strong wind, often carries lighting or building maintenance equipment, and has to look exactly as the architect drew it from the ground.

That means checking stiffness and movement as well as strength, detailing connections that hide inside the architecture, and planning the steel in pieces that can be lifted and fixed safely at the top of the building.
